Paul Javal a young French playwright on the up accepts a job from vulgar American producer Jeremy Prokosch who wants Javal to re-write a script of a film being directed by Fritz Lang. Javal’s wife Camille is played by Brigitte Bardot and the presence of Prokosch drives a wedge between husband and wife. Camille develops what she describes as mépris (contempt) for her husband. This is an Original UK Quad Poster for the 1955 film The Man with the Golden Arm. The Man with the Golden Arm is the film poster that shot artist Saul Bass to fame in the film industry. The film is a hard-hitting examination of drug addiction a taboo subject in the 1950s. The artist uses the distorted arm to reflect the damage addiction inflicts on the human body.
