This is an original Belgian poster for the first release of the film Le Mepris. Paul Javal a young French playwright on the up accepts a job from vulgar American producer Jeremy Prokosch who wants Javal to re-write a script of a film being directed by Fritz Lang. Javal’s wife Camille is played by Brigitte Bardot and the presence of Prokosch drives a wedge between husband and wife. Camille develops what she describes as mépris (contempt) for her husband.
There have been a number of outstanding images produced for the film’s posters and first release posters are increasingly hard to come by. This image features Brigette Bardot sunbathing. The poster is in outstanding condition with one faint horizontal fold line and would look great framed
