The more eagle-eyed and loyal of our site visitors may have noticed that the website looks a little bit different. The fonts and colours are a little different, but a much more significant change has been made on the gallery page (https://www.cinemapostergallery.co.uk/gallery/). We have added a bunch of filters and you can now run searches for posters related to your favorite director, actor and film franchise. We have yet to populate some of the data fields for a given poster but when we do, one will be able to do poster searches for the most obscure film directors. We have [...]

Bond #25 in T minus 25 days and counting

By |2023-04-26T11:16:52+01:00September 5, 2021|Categories: hidden blog|

No Time to Die, the 25th film in the James Bond franchise, will finally be released on the 30th of September 2021. There have been a number of false dawns for the film and there is a premiere in the Royal Albert Hall 2 days before the general release, however, the 30th of September is the day to put in your diary if you want to see the film as soon as it's released. None of the major cinemas appear to be taking reservations yet, but Odeon Cinemas (which also takes bookings for IMAX screenings) will take bookings from the [...]

Some movie inspiration!

By |2023-04-26T11:22:03+01:00March 12, 2021|Categories: hidden blog|

As lockdown grinds on we run out of box sets and films to watch. A friend recently claimed to have completed Netflix!!  For this reason, we thought it worth suggesting some movies you may not have seen or haven’t seen in several years. It would be a stretch to call any of them obscure but perhaps they can provide some TV inspiration. Not only are they very entertaining pieces of film, but they also have particularly eye-catching movie posters. Furthermore, we have the posters for all 3 movies on our website priced at£100 or less. Out of Sight (1998) A [...]

Cinema Poster Grading System

The posters on our site will likely have been used for promotional purposes when the movie was released or re-released. Having said that we strive to buy a quality of poster we would be happy to hang on our own wall or shop. No single standard exists for grading of cinema posters and different dealers and auctions houses may use different grading systems. For this reason, we thought it would be useful to do a comparison between our grading system and scores between 1 and 10 and alpha scores. Mint A+ 10 Near Mint A 9 Very Fine A- 8 [...]

Online art sales surge in 2020

By |2023-04-26T11:24:02+01:00July 31, 2020|Categories: hidden blog|

ArtTactic’s “2020 In Review” report which was published last week has produced some interesting findings. Art sales across all format at Christie’s, Sotheby’s and Phillips - halved in the year to July 2020. Sales to July 2019 fell from $5.7bn to $2.9bn in 2020. However it is a 500% increase in online art sales at the big auction houses that catches the eye. Sales to July 2020 rose from $69m to $412m. While this may not signal a tetonic shift in fine art buying patterns, it does show an increased willingness by buyers to partake in such transactions online.
