  • Dr. No is the movie that launched the James Bond phenomenon into the US, and this is the poster that was used to promote it. Bond with a cigarette in one hand and a gun in the other lounges next to 4 seductive women. Small line drawings of scenes from the movie are used. Red and yellow are colours that portray passion while the use of black green and yellow is perhaps a nod to the film's Jamaican setting. You can observe grey smoke coming from Bonds cigarette. In the first run of prints of these posters the smoke was yellow but this was changed in later print runs. Both posters are equally desirable, and this is a special and rare poster. It is in beautiful linen-backed condition.

Of the three styles the Style C (Bath Scene) picture is the most popular. The picture has many subtle signs of the year the poster was produced. The image is deliberately risque, reflecting the new 1960s mood of sexual liberation. The tagline emphasises that Sean Connery is the one and only James Bond, perhaps a veiled put-down of Casino Royal, the Bond spoof released that year. The artwork is unmistakably Robert McGinnis while the great children's author and 'Tales of the Unexpected' creator Roald Dahl wrote the screenplay and is named in the poster's credits.

This is an original, linen-backed US One Sheet poster for The Godfather, considered by many to be the greatest film of all time. The film tells the story of the Corleone family, one of the most established crime families in New York City. Marlon Brando famously plays the role of Vito Don Corleone, while Al Pacino plays his son Michael Pacino. Don Corleone's refusal to involve the family in the drug trade leads his rivals to view the family as past the peak of their powers and it leads the Corleone family to come under attack. This minimal US One Sheet poster is from the film's first release and includes the cast names and the classic Godfather image of the puppeteer pulling strings. The fanfare the film was released to enabled the use of this minimal design, and style has been emulated many times in the past 50 years, not least by the television show 'The Sopranos'. • This is an Original US One Sheet Poster for the first release of the 1958 film Veritgo. Vertigo was the first Alfred Hitchcock film for which Saul Bass produced a film poster and this image has gone on to become one of the most famous pictures in movie history. The poster is synonymous with the film, they are almost one and the same. The poster uses a spiral, a symbol which can be seen throughout the film. The spiral is a visual representation of obsession, the core theme of the film. Obsession is powered by repetition, an action the spiral also represents. Scenes in the film are repeated to capture obsession. James Stewart plays Fergie, a retired detective, who suffers from acrophobia (a fear of heights) and vertigo. He takes on a job to investigate a friend's wife - Madeline, who is displaying strange behaviour. Fergie becomes obsessed with Madeline and the story unfolds. This first‑release Vertigo One Sheet is exceptionally hard to source, and this example presents beautifully. The reds — notoriously the first colour to fade on vintage posters — remain rich and vibrant, with no drift toward orange. The paper shows a gentle, natural warm tone when compared with the white of the linen backing, entirely consistent with a well‑preserved piece approaching its 70th year. The poster was professionally linen‑backed prior to my acquisition, and light, sympathetic retouching was carried out along the fold lines, most noticeably on the lower vertical fold. The close‑up photographs provide a clear view of these areas and allow for a detailed assessment. Overall, this is a striking, well‑preserved example of an increasingly scarce poster, and it will display superbly once framed.
