This is an original cinema poster for the film Wicker Man. This item will be on display in the Saatchi Gallery, London as part of their 2025 'Flowers – Flora in Contemporary Art and Culture' exhibition which opens in February 2025. It will be delivered framed after the exhibition finishes in May 2025. A beautiful poster printed to mark a 50 year anniversary re-release of the film. The action takes place on the Scottish island of Summerisle. Sergeant Howie (Edward Woodward) arrives to investigate the disappearance of a child. Howie is appalled by the sexual displays and strange pagan rituals he observes on the island but the more he observes the closer he gets to finding the missing child. -

This is an original quad poster for the 1971 film 'Under Milk Wood'. 'Under Milk Wood' was originally written as radio drama by the famous Welsh poet Dylan Thomas. The film tells the story of a day in the life of a Welsh fishing called "Llareggub". Three of the biggest movie stars in the world at the time, Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor and Peter O'Toole, star in the film. The distinctive artwork in this UK quad poster is by Arnaldo Putzu. Unfortunately, this item got damaged in transit to us and has been reduced to 50% of the last copy of this poster we sold. Creasing can be seen along the orange strip at the top of the poster. This could be hidden by the frame mount. Linen backing would likely remove most of the creasing also. This is a guaranteed original One Sheet poster for the US release of the film The Spy Who Loved. Having been 3 years since the previous Bond movie this poster has a new artist in Robert 'Bob' Peak. The artwork has a decidedly darker and mysterious tone than previous Bond campaigns. Anya Amasova the Russian agent, Bond teams up with, has an almost equal emphasis in the poster. The artwork features beneath the sea action and the hold of the villain Stomberg's ship which is being used to conceal hijacked US and Soviet submarines. A japenese poster from the movies first release in 1977 features Roger Moore prominently in what may be one of his best outings as 007. This poster features many of the ground breaking features of the movie such as the underwater car, villian Stromberg's hideout and the underwater submarine base. This is an original Quad from the first UK release of 'The Man with the Golden Gun' in 1974. Central to this poster is a huge golden gun directed at Bond with the '007' ominously etched onto a bullet being loaded into the gun. This is a direct reference to the beginning of the film when a similar bullet arrives at MI6 addressed to Bond. Roger Moore is captured in a similar pose that in the poster for Live and Let Die but a new equally as brilliant collage of images has been brought in. Mary Goodnight played by Britt Ekland and Scaramanga played by Christopher Lee feature as memorable Bond girls and villains. Images to the left and right of Bond are a nod to the film's exotic Eastern locations. Both the design and illustration were produced by the venerable Robert McGinnis. The condition of the poster is immaculate. It has been expertly linen-backed and required minimal touching up to the fold lines. This is an original 2 Foglio for the James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun. It was printed for a re-release in the mid to late 70s subsequent to the first release of the film. The poster features artwork showing Roger Moore as Bond and the large golden gun was produced by the artist Robert McGinnis. Unusually for a poster this size it has only a single vertical fold and we believe it would display really well. The black spots in the corners are magnets that have not damaged the poster in any way. -

The coloured bar is used to enable printers to revise and perfect the posters they print using the offset lithography method. 99.9% of the time the proof is chopped from the posters before circulating them in the cinemas. Old proofs are often re-discovered in printing presses years later as is the case with this poster which has come directly from the printer. The design, and artwork for the poster, was produced by Tom Chantrell. It was originally commissioned for the UK release of the film but George Lucas liked it so much it was also used for US cinemas. The design, and artwork, were produced by Tom Chantrell. This is the style C Star Wars posters, sometimes referred to as the Dirty Dozen poster due to the way the characters line up in the same way. A large image of Darth Vader's helmet looms in the background, a design that was used in many subsequent posters for the franchise. There is some very minor restoration along the bottom of this poster though it is only barely perceptible to the eye on close inspection. We have graded it Very Fine on this basis but it is arguably near mint. The unframed image is a higher-definition picture that enables condition assessment. -

Star Wars was so popular in US Cinemas that four distinct print runs of this poster were created for the first release of the film. The NSS number at the bottom right of the poster can be used to distinguish between the posters and this one which has 77/21-0 is from the first print run. The 77/21-0 is the most coveted of these posters and the multi coloured strip that can be seen on along the side makes this one extra special as it shows it to be a printers proof. This is an original style D poster for the film Star Wars. It is widely known as the Circus Poster and on the request of George Lucas George Lucas features ?Luke and Leah? swinging on a rope. Charles White produced the sketch and airbrush sections of the poster while Drew Struzan painted the portraits with oil. After carefully producing the painting you see on the 'postage stamp', the realised they had left no space for the credits and came up with the solution to paint the Obi Wan Kinobi on the right-hand side thus creating the scale required for the credits at the bottom. The first printing of the poster was done in the summer of 1978. (The film was so popular that it had continued to run in cinemas since its release in 1977.) The poster was commissioned to be re-printed in 1992 but this version is from 1978 print run. It is linen backed and in outstanding condition which can be best assessed in the third unframed image.
