This is an original cinema poster for the first release of 'A Clockwork Orange' the hugely famous 1971 dystopian crime film directed by Stanley Kubrick. The film tells the story of Alex (Malcolm McDowell) and the horrific violent crime sprees he and his gang go on. Alex is eventually captured and agrees to partake in a psychological therapy in return for a reduced sentence. In the programme he is injected with nausea-inducing drugs and made to watch violence, similar to the type he had committed. It is while in therapy that his eyes are clamped open. This scene has been the source material for many of the film's cinema posters. The poster listed here is from the year of the films first release in 1972 and it was used for International circulation. The poster is designed by Philip Castle who later designed album covers for David Bowie and Pulp. The pointed pyramid and focus on human eyes reflect the grotesque pop art that is intertwined throughout the film. The poster is linen backed and is excellent condition. Manhattan socialite Golightly must decide between the advances of Paul, a young author who moves into her building, and multiple other rich men who appear in the course of the film. The film features one of the most famous directors, actors and actresses of all time in the form of Roman Polanski, Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway. Set in Los Angeles in 1937, Evelyn Mulwray (Dunaway) hires J.J Gittes (Nicholson), a private detective, to establish if her husband is having an affair. Hollis Mulwray is a high profile city planner involved in the construction of a new dam need to supply fresh water to LA, a hugely important project for the city at the time. As Gittes follows Mulwray he becomes aware of the civil servants dodgy dealings which lead him down a dangerous path. The famous image in this poster shows Nicholson and Dunaway and reflects the noir theme of the film.? Let It Be is a documentary filled with poignancy as it was shot in the 4 weeks before the Beatles broke up. The bands' last ever performance on a rooftop in Saville Row in London took place during the filming. The film features a heated studio argument between McCartney and George Harrison and Yoko Ono is ever-present. The US and UK posters are exactly the same in style and feature squared photos of the band members against a black background with 'The Beatles' and 'Let it Be' in yellow writing. This stunning poster is 41 x 81 inches and the detail and condition can be best examined in the 3rd cropped image. Originals of this iconic image are highly collectible and this copy is particularly special as it was never folded and is in near mint condition. This is an original style D poster for the film Star Wars. It is widely known as the Circus Poster and on the request of George Lucas George Lucas features ?Luke and Leah? swinging on a rope. Charles White produced the sketch and airbrush sections of the poster while Drew Struzan painted the portraits with oil. After carefully producing the painting you see on the 'postage stamp', the realised they had left no space for the credits and came up with the solution to paint the Obi Wan Kinobi on the right-hand side thus creating the scale required for the credits at the bottom. The first printing of the poster was done in the summer of 1978. (The film was so popular that it had continued to run in cinemas since its release in 1977.) The poster was commissioned to be re-printed in 1992 but this version is from 1978 print run. It is linen backed and in outstanding condition which can be best assessed in the third unframed image. -

This is an original Star Wars Style A One sheet poster. The design, and artwork, was produced by Tom Jung. Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, R2-D2 and C-3PO all feature on the poster. A large image of Darth Vader's helmet looms in the background, a design that was used in many subsequent posters for the franchise. A white streak across the top of Luke's lightsaber forms a cross. Jung explained this as representing the forces of good against evil. Star Wars was so popular in US Cinemas that four distinct prints runs of this poster were created for the first release of the film. This is from the 2nd print run which can be distinguished by the NSS number of "77/21" which unlike the 3rd and 4th printing doesn't have "Star Wars" ?written under it.
