Mowgli, a boy brought up in the jungle, gets the help of a bear and a panther after a tiger threatens to kill him. This poster is linen backed in outstanding condition. This is an Australian poster for the first release poster of the film Lawrence of Arabia in Australia. It is a lovely example of a stone lithograph print that was used for Australian cinema posters. The poster was originally folded but has been stored flat and the fold lines are barely perceptible. The third unframed HD image enables the best assessment. David Leans epic depicts the story of British army officer T.E. Lawrence who led Arabian desert tribes into battle with the Turkish army in Aqaba and Damascus during World War I. Peter O'Toole plays the title role and Omar Sharif and Anthony Quinn also star. -

This particular first release poster for the film is one of the most sought cinema posters printed in the UK in the past 70 years. It is also very hard to find, with copies rarely being available for sale. We acquired it from a gentleman who had kept in a folder since childhood and it this is reflected in the outstanding colour with no apparent fading. It has been glued on top of another poster but we think it would restore magnificently. There is some minor dirt on the right hand side but we think this could be cleaned and wouldn't require over-painting. The snipe (sticker with additional screening details) could be left in place or removed by a restorer before linen backing. If removed we could have it linen backed also. It does adds to the provenance as Oxford is the city T.E. Lawrence is most associated with. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if we can provide more information or if interested in a viewing. -

Paul Javal a young French playwright on the up accepts a job from vulgar American producer Jeremy Prokosch who wants Javal to re-write a script of a film being directed by Fritz Lang. Javal’s wife Camille is played by Brigitte Bardot and the presence of Prokosch drives a wedge between husband and wife. Camille develops what she describes as mépris (contempt) for her husband. There have been a number of outstanding images produced for the film's posters and first release posters are increasingly hard to come by. This image features Brigette Bardot sunbathing. This is an rare original poster for the first release of 'The Man with the Golden Gun' in 1974, which features a tie-up with the brand Guinness. The huge golden gun directed at Bond with the '007' ominously etched onto a bullet is central to the poster but it shares the limelight with the famous Irish stout. A bottle of Guinness makes an appearance in the film when Nick Nack brings it to Scaramanga on a tray with bottle of Champagne and a plate of oysters in the pre-title sequence. The poster is in excellent condition and a real collectors item as it combines a hugely popular film franchise and brand among poster lovers.
