This is an Original US Cinema Poster for the 1963 film Le Mépris (also refered to as Contempt). Hugely influential French/Italian cinema from Jean-Luc Godard. Paul Javal a young French playwright on the up accepts a job from vulgar American producer Jeremy Prokosch who wants Javal to re-write a script of a film being directed by Fritz Lang. Javal’s wife Camille is played by Brigitte Bardot and the presence of Prokosch drives a wedge between husband and wife. Camille develops what she describes as mépris (contempt) for her husband. This poster is from a US release sponsored by Martin Scorsese who used the musical score Contempt in the film Casino.

The round white/black objects you may see in the corners are magnets, used to photograph the posters. They have not damaged the posters in any way.

Mint
A flawless poster that will be in the exact same condition as the day it was printed with no marks or fading.

Near Mint
This poster will be in excellent conditions and if it has a blemish or mark it will be barely noticeable.

Very Fine
A poster that may have more than one very minor flaws, a minor tear or some barely visible signs of restoration. Colour in outstanding condition.

Fine
A fine poster while still very presentable may have some edge damage, show clearer signs of restoration or have multiple nicks to the surface. If a folded poster there may be loss of colour along the folds.

Very Good
An average poster that shows multiple pinholes, tears that are clearly visible or possible tape stains. Colours are still good but the paper may have yellowed.

Good and Below Good
This poster will show serious signs of wear and tears, fading of colours, tear marks and/or noticeable repair work.
