This is an original 4 foglio poster for a 1970s re-release of You Only Live Twice in Italy. The 'red background' style of this poster is very popular with collectors and we believe there was once? (and may still be a copy) on display at the London Film Museum in Convent Garden. You Only Live Twice is the fifth Eon-produced Bond film. Multiple styles of artwork were used in the film posters with one consistent feature being Sean Connery holding a diving mask and pistol. This is the image you see in the poster but note how Bond has become left handed to accommodate the text on the right hand side. The poster has been linen-backed and the 2nd image gives an idea of the huge scale of the poster. The appearance of this poster is not perfect and we suggest and examination of the the 3rd unframed (HD) image which enables the best condition assessment. -

Adams's six arms hold a martini glass, straightens Bonds tuxedo, hair and bow tie and also ominously stroke the silencer of his gun and while also point a knife towards the ground. The Acrostar minijet plays a prominent role in the US and the letter "O" in the logo us graciously combined with the tentacles of an octopus. The tagline 'James Bond's all time high!' references the movies title song, sang by Rita Coolidge. Skiing features prominently in all posters for George Lazenby's single outing as 007, none more so than in this US poster from the films first release. Telly Savalas as Blofeld leads the bad guy chase in this exquisitely coloured coloured artwork by Robert McGinnis and Frank McCarthy. The tagline 'James Bond is back' and portrayal of 007 gear would make this an incredible picture for a ski chalet. This poster was printed for a 1980s re-release of the film and importantly has never been folded making it particularly desirable. The colours are completely unfaded. This is an original special advance poster for The Living Daylights featuring the iconic Aston Martin DB5. This is Timothy Dalton's first appearance as 007 and he brought a rugged grittiness to the Bond character in a similar way as Daniel Craig did almost 20 years later. There is some fold damage to the bottom border, much of which could be hidden when framed. The price has been adjusted to reflect this.

James Bond needs little introduction. Other movie franchises have grossed more in cinemas but these franchises tend to be more modern and have fewer movies. The first Bond film, Dr. No, was released in 1962 and since that there have been another 24 movies. This makes the Bond franchise popular with a much wider range of age groups than some modern franchises. The body of artwork of artwork, with ever evolving styles, 60 years of Bond films has produced is simply stunning.
One obvious change in poster styles was the transitions from hand painted images to computer generated images in the 80’s. The Living Daylights in 1987 was the last Bond promotional campaign to be hand painted, with artwork by Brian Bysouth.
