This is a rare original and highly coveted withdrawn 'Lucky Strike' poster for the film Pulp Fiction. Few, if any, posters from the last 25 years have a back story quite like this poster. Observe the packet of cigarettes in front of Uma Thurman and you will see they bear a resemblance to a carton of Lucky Strikes. The cigarette manufacturer threatened to sue the film’s producer Miramax unless all copies of the poster were destroyed. The posters got recalled and fewer than 100 copies are thought to survive making this poster highly rare and collectible. High-quality reproductions of the poster are in circulation with 2 noticeable flaws. Firstly, the top of the poster was cropped and the ‘little man’ (white on red background with the appearance of steak marbling) above the black ‘R’ letter was cropped. The second tell of the reproductions is a white speckling on Uma Thurman’s breast. The poster offered for sale here is one of the originals with the little man fully in tact and no speckling. The Tarantino film is, of course, a masterpiece which when coupled with the poster's back story makes it a compelling investment. Furthermore, this poster is in excellent condition, without with only a small crease 2 inches up the left hand side. This is minor stuff however and could be covered if framed. -

This is an original cinema poster for the first release of 'A Clockwork Orange' the hugely famous 1971 dystopian crime film directed by Stanley Kubrick. The film tells the story of Alex (Malcolm McDowell) and the horrific violent crime sprees he and his gang go on. Alex is eventually captured and agrees to partake in a psychological therapy in return for a reduced sentence. In the programme he is injected with nausea-inducing drugs and made to watch violence, similar to the type he had committed. It is while in therapy that his eyes are clamped open. This scene has been the source material for many of the film's cinema posters. The poster listed here is from the year of the films first release in 1972 and it was used for International circulation. The poster is designed by Philip Castle who later designed album covers for David Bowie and Pulp. The pointed pyramid and focus on human eyes reflect the grotesque pop art that is intertwined throughout the film. The poster is linen backed and is excellent condition. When a bounty hunter and his captured fugitive are caught in the middle of a snowstorm, they seek refuge at the small lodge and encounter a twisted turn of events there.
