Surrealist mystery film written and directed by David Lynch. The story follows an aspiring actress named Betty Elms (played by Naomi Watts), who arrives in Los Angeles and befriends an amnesiac woman (Laura Harring) recovering from a car accident. The film weaves together various vignettes and characters, including a Hollywood film director portrayed by Justin Theroux1. Initially conceived as a television pilot, Lynch shot a significant portion of the film in 1999. When television executives rejected his cut, he provided an ending to turn it into a feature film.
