This is an original US One Sheet poster for the 1974 film Chinatown. The film features one of the most famous directors, actors and actresses of all time in the form of Roman Polanski, Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway. Set in Los Angeles in 1937, Evelyn Mulwray (Dunaway) hires J.J Gittes (Nicholson), a private detective, to establish if her husband is having an affair. Hollis Mulwray is a high profile city planner involved in the construction of a new dam need to supply fresh water to LA, a hugely important project for the city at the time. As Gittes follows Mulwray he becomes aware of the civil servants dodgy dealings which lead him down a dangerous path.

The famous image in this poster shows Nicholson and Dunaway and reflects the noir theme of the film.  The poster has recently been linen backed and presents brilliantly. The condition can be best assessed in the 3rd unframed image.

The round white/black objects you may see in the corners are magnets, used to photograph the posters. They have not damaged the posters in any way.

Mint
A flawless poster that will be in the exact same condition as the day it was printed with no marks or fading.

Near Mint
This poster will be in excellent conditions and if it has a blemish or mark it will be barely noticeable.

Very Fine
A poster that may have more than one very minor flaws, a minor tear or some barely visible signs of restoration. Colour in outstanding condition.

Fine
A fine poster while still very presentable may have some edge damage, show clearer signs of restoration or have multiple nicks to the surface. If a folded poster there may be loss of colour along the folds.

Very Good
An average poster that shows multiple pinholes, tears that are clearly visible or possible tape stains. Colours are still good but the paper may have yellowed.

Good and Below Good
This poster will show serious signs of wear and tears, fading of colours, tear marks and/or noticeable repair work.
